So close and yet so far...
I have to admit a somewhat geeky hobby I have because I need some help here.
i collect state quarters (I am typing in lower case because I don't really want anyone to hear me).
SSSSHHHHHH!!! Don't read that too loud.
Well, I have been dutifully holding on to the various state quarters, selecting out the least damaged representatives and putting them in my book called "Washington Quarters Statehood Commemoration 1999-2008 Date Set" I am so near completion but still not quite there. As dorky as this hobby might sound, it is actually quite fun. It's like having a scavenger hunt on a regular basis. Just today I got the Alaskan quarter.
So right now, I am missing Hawaii (to be expected since that was the last quarter to be produced) and Pennsylvania and Florida-- yeah, the two election swing states. It's a little embarassing to acknowledge that I am missing Pennsylvania, since I do live in Philadelphia and it does have its own mint (Denver is the other state to have the only other US mint). In my defense, PA's quarter was produced a long time ago and it is likely that there aren't that many in circulation any more (especially since they are only produced for a limited amount of time).
So, this is why I am going public. I can't find PA or FL quarters ANYWHERE! If you come across one, can you hold on to it for me? I'd greatly appreciate it. I think I will eventually encounter an Hawaii quarter because they just came out in November. But, then again with all the attention for Hawaii because of Obama, I might just never see one of those.

are you also collecting them by mint? I have been dutifully collecting state quarters out here for my relatives who want the D stamp to go with their P quarters. I need to go home and see if I have a PA or FL somewhere.

I had hear about the D versus the P stamped quarters. I started my collection a bit too late to be able to collect all the quarters by mint as well, which might be a blessing in disguise. Who knows how obsessed I can get with these things.
Recently on my South Africa trip, I picked up a cool coin from Namibia.

I'll help you look. And I've alerted my mother as well.
